Jennifer Fielder, RN

Jennifer is a dedicated RN with over forty years' experience within multiple medical-surgical settings from inpatient to home health care, case management, inpatient discharge planning, oncology program management, and currently coordinating the adult clinical continuing education program for professional development at a local organization with state-wide facilitation.

2005 started a year of discovery and reflection as Jennifer joined the club no one signs up for: breast cancer survivors. More than a few surgeries and weeks of chemo later all the medical professionals kept suggesting joining a support group. There were no support groups found to be supportive, but there was a group discovered online: the World Laughter Tour. Finding a Certified Laugh Leader course in Phoenix, AZ (October 2006), Jennifer found this different option for a support group, bringing it back to Alaska. In an “AHA” moment near the end of the training the “AH-LAFska Club” was the decided moniker for the inaugural laughter club started in Anchorage. The AH-LAFska Club was an active group for over twelve years throughout the municipality, with some field trips to Fairbanks and Juneau.

Aspen Knight

Instructor

Anchorage Yoga

Born and raised in Alaska, Aspen Knight has a strong connection to the Anchorage community. She completed both an undergraduate and graduate program at University of Alaska Anchorage in English Rhetoric with honors and continues to embrace the mentality that there is always more to learn. After working as a Program Manager for two years in the construction industry, she found herself craving a position that would allow her to give back to the community she loves. Her current positions as both a Yoga Instructor and at PAMC in the Medical Staff Office both fulfill that need and she is excited to see what comes next. With 9 years of combined experience as both a practitioner and an instructor, Aspen Knight embraces all of the benefits that Yoga has to offer. She first found Yoga during her undergrad and used the physical practice as a means to release stress and energy. Throughout time, the relationship between herself and Yoga evolved to not only a physical practice but also a spiritual, emotional, and mindful practice. She loves to incorporate all of these aspects in her classes through movement, breath work, and mindful meditation; hoping that through those offerings, her students use the tools they learn beyond the mat.
